Adam Rex - 47

(video and poem © Adam Rex. All rights reserved.)

What's this, you ask? It's a masterful, two person  performance of Adam Rex's poem 47, that's what it is. You gotta watch. Seriously.

And then... what about making your own list poem (or as Adam said more specifically... a Crazy List poem)? There's a lot of freedom in creating one, and you can use that freedom to rhyme (or not!) wild things together. To get you started, here's a prompt straight from the poet himself:

"Go and clean your room - I want it spotless!" Father said.
Here's a list of things that I can fit beneath my bed:

I'll leave my list in the comments here.... And I hope you'll come on back all through April for more poetry of all sorts.

I wasn't familiar with that poem - brilliant, both the poem and the performance!

Here is what can fit beneath my bed:

Boxes and glasses and footballs and keys.
Tangerines. Sandwiches. What was once cheese.
Legos and homework. And monsters. And cars!
Trains and two spaceships. Planets and stars.
Candies that last for one hundred eight uses.
Magically powerful perfect excuses.
Atomically accurate future-time clocks.
Unicorns! Ogres! Dragons!
And socks.

His video (the poem, his delivery, and his fellow thespian) is glorious! And so is your list!

This was FANTABULOUS! Love, love, love the delivery - especially the kid's.

Here's a list I posted on Facebook in response to all the "guess which job I never had" posts:

Which one of these jobs have I never had?

1. Astronaut
2. Ballerina
3. Rockstar
4. Jockey
5. Disneyland Princess
6. Mayor
7. Rocket Scientist
8. Construction Worker
9. Farmer
10. Deceptive List Maker (I mean, officially)

The poem and the presentation were so much fun! I especially like the thought of 'guacamole lava', but just not on an ice cream. Thanks for spotlighting these amazing poets and poems, Greg, and for sharing what's under your bed. :)

Perfect and wonderful! And the list of what's under your bed explains so much.
