My Friend Kim - a friendship poem/an androgynous poem

My Friend Kim
by
Greg Pincus

My best friend is androgynous.
Goes by the name of Kim.
Clothes and style are meaningless...
I'll always care for her.
Or him!

Sometimes I wonder "huh. What age is that poem for?" This is is one of these times....

Wow, you're practicing up for Ed's next challenge; what other time can you use androgynous in a poem? Although, I admit that I like it - and androgynous scans better than non-normative genders. ☺

Androgynous? Hmm, not sure I have ever read a poem with that word before! I agree with Tanita- sounds like you are getting warmed up for Ed's next challenge!

It's nice to see you push beyond the rigid gender-normative boundaries, Greg! This is how we change the world to be a kinder, more celebrating-of-differences place!
Namaste,
Lee

I like it. Simple, effective and funny. Classic Pincus.

Tanita, that's exactly what I was thinking -- "Hide that word from Ed!!!"

More writing is available for celebrating differences, & isn't the next step to be able to laugh? Thanks for a funny poem.

It's hard to write a MG-appropriate androgynous poem, isn't it. :-)
