Vote for Me! -- a voting poem/an election poem

VOTE FOR ME!
by
Gregory K.

Vote for me!
Vote for me!
Everybody vote for me!

I put up my posters. I promised free toasters!
Boy, asking for votes is so fun.

Vote for me!
Vote for me!
Everybody vote for me!

The votes are all in... errr... I guess I’m the winner.
So tell me now... what have I won?

The Poetry Friday links are collected here at Becky's Book Reviews. (And I now have another voting poem, in Fib form, here!)

If you want to get all my new poems (and only the poems) emailed to you for freeee as they hit the blog, enter your email address in the box below then click subscribe!

Oh, I like this. The last two lines are evocative of Shel Silverstein without being derivative.

I'm glad I met you, so now I can read your poems and hear your particular voice in my head. (Then again-- "Help, help! Gregory K. is in my head and he won't leave!")

Oh, I'm in for the toasters. Now, what else are you promising? Pop tarts? Seems like a reasonable campaign promise to me...

Love the poem, I voted for you, too :0) But I do find it funny that you put free toasters in your tag!

And I find it fun that someone noticed I put "free toasters" in my tag! I'm already wondering when the next such tag will come up.

And I definitely like the slogan "A Pop Tart in every toaster!" for a campaign. Get Kellogg's to underwrite your ad buys... keep a few brown sugar cinnamon frosted ones for yourself... it's all good!

G.K. (always willing to leave a head if asked nicely!)
