I keep hearing from more and more folks who are going to be at the August SCBWI conference out here in currently-a-tad-too-warm LA. I'm really looking forward to reconnecting with a lot of folks as well as meeting a whole bunch o' fellow denizens of the kidlitosphere. And so, I propose a version of what I've seen in NYC and now DC -- a drink night! Now, it can't be a Kid Lit Drink Night, cuz that's silly since all 1000ish attendees are around for kidlit stuff. But us onliners in particular should meet at some point on Friday so we know who's who.
Anyone wanna be one of the N (where N is hopefully large) co-organizers/co-hosts/co-everything along with me? Please??!!! Drop me a line or leave a comment and let's hatch a plan. Friday night seems right... but what else?

I will gladly help you organize. Mostly because I'm so looking forward to meeting you in person and hanging out.
There is a wine & cheese reception that night from 6:30-7:30, so I'd suggest that it be at a later time -- like maybe 8:30 or so, so folks can grab a bite to eat? And we will be needing a place. This will require heavy use of Google on my part, but I'm willing to have a look unless someone more knowledgeable has a plan.
Greg, great timing! I just started talking with Kelly Herold about organizing a get-together. I'd be happy to be one of the co-hosts.

Hi, Kelly and Tracy. Yes, a gathering is good. And yes, Friday night. And locations are pretty limited as there's really only the lobby bar or the mall next door as easy for all locations. Besides, Tracy and I are locals, so we can discuss logistics without using Google. Ya know... an excuse to visit the mall!
And Tracy, I'm sure everyone wants to meet the force behind JacketFlap, so I'm glad you'll be there....
I am so there!
It'll be fun to comment on what everyone's saying without having to decipher the Word Verification first.
And no laptops allowed!

Sounds like fun!
Hey, maybe we can have a rumble. You know, LJ-ers vs Blogspot-ers. Oh, and then there are the MySpacers.
Hey....of course I'll be there, thanks to the Disco Mermaids.
I don't have a posse, but if I did, they would be called THE DORK PATROL.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Hey, I'm really sorry I'm going to miss this year. I had a great time meeting you last year. Did I already say that a few posts back? I'm getting old.
Hey, I get a week behind in reading blogs and y'all are planning a party without me! A Friday night bash sounds great! No rumble for me (bad knee), but I can referee. Oh wait, that's only when my kids are fighting. I'll just do color commentary, then. Can't wait!
I like the idea of the rumble. I need to practice my snapping.
Wait. A rumble isn't where two rival gangs face off and snap fingers?
