There's Something in the Trash Can -- a poem of mystery!

THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE TRASH CAN
by
Gregory K.

There's something in the trash can.
It's moving. Do you hear it?
It's kind of a rumbling.
Or maybe it's mumbling.
Whatever it is... don't get near it.

There's something in the trash can.
It's moving! I fear the worst.
It might be a rat!
Or it could be the cat.
I guess we should check.... You go first.

(I'm posting an original poem-a-day through April in celebration of National Poetry Month. Links to this and other poems here on GottaBook (and there are lots of others, because poetry is NOT just for April) are collected over on the right of the blog under the headline "The Poems".)

My 7 year old son has to memorize a poem for school. He loves trash/recycling and the trash trucks. He found your poem and plans to use it in class! Oh, and his name is also Gregory!
