I DON’T LIKE WORDS
by
Gregory K.
I don’t like words.
They don’t make sense.
Words make me upset and tense.
How due eye no witch whirred two ewes
Ore how too right thee won aye chews?
Wile sum mite think words are a bawl,
Eye dew knot care fore words at awl!
This seemed like a good way to end my National Poetry Month poem-a-day run. Obviously, I do like words... most of the time. You can find links to all the April poems over on the right of the blog under the headline "The Poems". And remember, poetry happens here at GottaBook alllll year long, so it won't be long til I'm back at ya, for better or verse.

Book Report on The Dictionary - a homework poem/a dictionary poem/a book report poem
BOOK REPORT ON THE DICTIONARY
by
Gregory K.
I found the plot missing,
The dialog weak.
I kept waiting and waiting for someone to speak.
The characters bored me.
In fact, there weren’t any!
The jokes were not funny, and there weren’t too many.
The book started slowly.
The middle lacked energy.
And what type of ending is “zymotic, zymurgy”?
The authors have talent
But need to refine it...
'Cause if there's a point here, they failed to define it.
(I'm posting an original poem-a-day through April in celebration of National Poetry Month. Links to this and other poems here on GottaBook (and there are lots of others, because poetry is NOT just for April) are collected over on the right of the blog under the headline "The Poems".)

Poem of the Day: Word Nerd
"Can't
Count."
"Word nerd!"
"Your mother
Sequences your dad."
Fibonacci Poetry Slam!
This is the last of the April Poems of the Day what with it being the last day of April and all that. It seemed appropriate to end with a Fib after all that's happened this month. I hope you've enjoyed the poems (and National Poetry Month, of course). Just like before April, poems will pop up here on a semi-regular basis anyway, so if you're only here cuz of them, don't despair :-).
For those seeking more on Fibbery, there's links over on the right of the blog that will take you to the hottest Fib spots on the blog, or you can simply scroll lower and see what you can see. Lots of good stuff lurks hereabouts, so enjoy!

Poem of the Day: The Bird's Word
THE BIRD’S WORD
by
Gregory K.
“Have you heard?” asked the bird
“I invented a word.
It’s truly absurd,
But it’s easily slurred.
I shall speak from my beak
This new word so unique.
Derived from the Greek,
And the new word is... EEEEEEEK!”
That poor bird’s now interred.
“I had truly preferred
To hear that new word.
But that’s life,” the cat purred.
