Variations on a Fib

Some days it's easy to put something up here. A new comment recently appeared on the blog, on the post The Fib. A mysterious net user named Adie took the Fib from that post, and made a new Fib that's an anagram of the original. The level of complexity in that is beyond my feeble brain (or maybe it's more that I never woulda thought of doing it!). So, for Poetry Friday, I present my first posted Fib...

One
Small,
Precise,
Poetic,
Spiraling mixture:
Math plus poetry yields the Fib.

And the anagram Fib (include the title...):

HISTORY

I,
A
Pincus,
Completed
This first example.
Pure poetry began. I'll smile.

Thanks, Adie!

  2. Yeah, it is impressive and the type of thing that makes my head implode, too. But as you note, Susan, it's a good implosion! :-) (And yes, I did check to make sure it's an anagram. It is, of course!)

Holy cow - excellent results, Adie, from a difficult self-assignment!

  4. Ha, and to think I told my teachers I wouldn't ever be using calculus once I was an adult -
does this ever prove me wrong!
    err...
    It DOES use calculus, right?
    Long division?
    Math of some kind?

    Oh dear.

  5. So what do you call a fib and its anagram? A fibrication?

    Very impressive.

  7. Thanks so much for your kind words.

I'd just like to set the record straight before some things are erroneously attributed to me. I didn't originate this idea. On October 21, 2007 at 23:14:30, Aronas Pinchas challenged members of anagrammy.com to create Fibs using all the letters of Gregory K.'s historic six-liner. I just happen to be the first person (on October 22, 2007 at 00:48:25) to answer his call with my "HISTORY" entry.

For what it's worth, I sent a few more anagrammatic Fibs thereafter. A variation of one can be found below. Political in nature, it's about an unpopular war based on a lie -- or a fib. As a bonus, the initial letters of the lines, acrostic-like, spell out "THE FIB." (And yes, it's likewise an anagram of Gregory K.'s first Fib.)

    This was my reply (October 29, 2007 at 03:42:39) to Mey's mind-boggling "Fib-o-Nagram" (Fib-o-nacci + Anagram = Fib-o-Nagram, yes?) --

  9. Adie, thanks again. The Pi Entry is staggering.

I'm sure I'll revisit this, but folks should dash off to Anagrammy.com and look through the Forum there for some utterly amazing wordplay.
