I'm Pretty Well Connected -- A Web 2.0 poem/an online poem/a social network poem

I’M PRETTY WELL CONNECTED
(a Web 2.0 poem)
By
Gregory K.

I’m pretty well connected:
Facebook’s got my face.
I AIM and blog.
Of course I vlog.
Come see me at MySpace.

I Flickr, and I Twitter.
I wiki and Squidoo!
I’m Live. I Ning.
I’m there on Xing.
I’m really LinkedIn, too.

I Hulu, Yelp, and Google.
My YouTube channel’s hot.
I share Goodreads,
Have many feeds,
And Digg and link a lot.

Second Life and Classmates?
Xanga? RateItAll?
I’m on those four
And dozens more
Plus some I can’t recall.

I’m pretty well connected:
My friends are EVERYWHERE.
I bet I’d meet
Them on the street...
If I’d just leave my chair.

Happy Poetry Friday (with this week's links collected here by author amok). I've posted an original poem that I can't wait to revisit in years hence to see how many of those hyperlinks still work!

And hey... if you want to get all my new poems (and only the poems) emailed to you for freeee as they hit the blog, enter your email address in the box below then click subscribe!

That's great! I bet most of those links last for a long time, actually. My money's on Google lasting for sure!

  2. Amazing! You do all that social networking and still have time to be a librarian and a poet! I'm thinking there's a little bit of multi-tasking going on...

  3. HA! If I'd leave my chair, my question is whether or not I'd RECOGNIZE any of my Web 2.0 friends!!

  4. Love the poem! Cute and very clever.

  8. Great Fun Greg! I can dig it.

  9. Thanks, all... particularly those who used lavish praise! :-) I happen to agree that the Google link is likely to be one that sticks around. And tadmack -- having met 2.0 friends (last year's kidlit blogging conference, anyone?), you'd be surprised how easy it is to recognize someone after seeing their thumbnail picture every day. Pictureless 2.0 friends, however, could sit next to you on a bus and you might never know....

I love the fact that your poem is a time capsule, since anyone can revisit to see which links still work. I wonder if school kids make cyber time capsules with saved web pages, so their grandkids can see what antique web pages look like!

  11. This rocks, Greg! I think you should remind us about it every year or so, so that we can check which links still work.

See you (in person!) next week.

  12. Love it, Greg. I'm resisting Twitter, am I wrong?

Hey Greg. Saw your link on our listserv and came to check it out. Great poem! LOL! You are way more connected than me. Good work.

Fantastic poem, Greg! As a dyed-in-the-wool hermit, totally unconnected (well, except for Poetry Friday), I applaud you.

  17. Greg - You've just made me feel very, very tired. We've set up a Ning for our Kansas-SCBWI conference goers (just finished the conference last night) and now I have to make sure they all feel "connected" not to mention re-connecting with my other networks that I've lapsed on for the last 2 days. i think I'll take the dog for a walk first. Get my butt outta that chair! You're very clever.

    Very funny Greg!

Not only am I unconnected but I'm becoming more so every day. My joints are disconnecting from each other and my skin is disconnecting from my bones. Long ago, my hair disconnected from the top of my head.

Here's hoping you stay more connected than me!

  19. Dan, I'm losing some of those same connections, but that would be a different poem. (And may I note that YOU are connected to the NYTimes bestseller list, you Pout Pout Fish guy, you).

And Kelly, it's fine if you're not Twittering. Like anything else in this realm, it's not for everyone! Personally, I'm happy with all the choices available... cuz it let me write this poem!

Creative one indeed. I love it.

  21. Loved the poem, Greg. But I clicked on the Twitter link and you weren't there -- just the main twitter page.

Someone said they're resisting twitter. All I can say is that because of twitter I've attracted new clients, been invited to speak, had new joint venture opportunities and made more money. Every author should be using twitter to connect with fans, publishers and colleagues.

Just got back from BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas and EVERYONE was using twitter and the meeting friends and followers face to face made it even better. No barriers; they were already friends from twitter.

    Blog on!

  23. Super fantastic poem!
There's even a few I haven't heard of and need to go check out!
    See ya on the web!

  24. This was one of my favorite moments of the conference. Great poem!!!

  25. Haha--the conversation here has convinced me to look into Twitter. You're not just connected, you're connecting.
